Winnipeg has never really produced a well known brand with international appeal. Some might suggest Nygard or even Clodhoppers, but how well know are they really?
It can take decades to create a brand with international appeal, so you would think there would be at least a couple Winnipeg brands that are well known beyond the province.
Perhaps the closet thing is the province itself, for its polar bears, scorching summers, and bitter cold winters?

No doubt you've heard about CanWest and that Jim Shaw of Shaw phone and cable services is likely to buy it.
Sort of sad to see a big Winnipeg brand like that have its reins passed to another province.
